My mom is my hero and inspires me everyday. When I was 8 we up and moved from England to America, we came over on a Russian Ocean liner and my mother won the dance contest on that ship, she was so awesome. Then she had to get all 5 of her children adjusted to a brand new country and she jumped in with both feet and made us feel like we had been here all our lives. When we were younger she always let us have any kind of critter we wanted, she even bought me 2 skunks for my birthday (they were both de scented) and she never yelled when we brought home the stray snake, she was a never afraid of anything. When i was 17 and came to her and told her i was in love and wanted to get married 1 month after my 18th birthday, she supported me whole heartedly and almost 24 years later we are still together, i guess mom always did know best…..LOL She had to restart her life all over again after 32 years of marriage, and there was not a job she wouldnt take to support her kids. She has even been held up at gun point while working at a store, I could have lost my mom that day but she talked her way out of it. Then she was diagnosed with colon cancer and it was bad. She was given only q 10% chance of coming through her surgery. She made it through with flying colors. After that she went back to work and continued to work even while having Chemo and radiation treatments. Not one time did she ever say “WHY ME”, she just did what she knew had to be done. She has been cancer free now for over 15 years and she is embracing life and inspiring others everyday, even if she doesnt know it.She has 5 children and worked hard everyday to make sure we had what we needed without a thought for herself. I hope I am just as good of a mom as she is. She is my Mom, my Hero, my Friend!!!
